Formed in 1918, the Royal Air Force is the oldest independent air force in the world. This long history has seen operations conducted across a variety of terrains in vastly different aircraft, from biplanes to bombers, tail-draggers to delta wings, from fighters through to the surveillance and air mobility aircraft of today.

This book charts the story of the RAF through its aircraft from the Sopwith Camel of World War I to the F35 Lightning of the 21st century, and via some of its key moments such as the Battle of Britain and Operation CHASTISE, the famous raid on the dams in and around the Ruhr valley in 1943.
